OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF THE TKT IN GREECE

Cambridge ESOL  launched the TKT examination officially on Saturday February 11 at the Grand Bretagne Hotel. Mrs. Mary Spratt was the keynote speaker and she presented the TKT as well as the book she has co-authored for teachers wishing to prepare for the TKT. Mrs MARY SPRATT TO TEACH ON A CELT ATHENS TKT COURSE THIS SUMMER!

The course will be held out of Athens and will be co-taught by Mrs.Mary Spratt, teacher, teacher trainer and co-author of the new TKT Course published by Cambridge University Press (2005) and Ms.Marisa Constantinides, teacher, teacher trainer and Director of CELT Athens. CELTA course at CELT Athens launched!!!!   The first Cambridge CELTA to be run at CELT Athens started on the 27th of January and has now been completed. Course participants were a mixture of nationalities - English, Greek and Romanian. Tony Whooley, a very experience DELTA and CELTA tutor was in charge of running this first course and, since he is a dedicated lover of Greece and has lived in Greece in the past and has also worked with CELT on various teacher training courses, including summer courses run for PALSO in Kalamata!  Please visit our pages soon to view reports of the special free adult classes used for CELTA and DELTA Teaching Practice!

FIRST COURSES

CERTIFICATE COURSE IN TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

The best known First Course for Teachers in Greece Provides a solid foundation in TEFL and is the minimum prerequisite for those who wish to teach English. It is a 100+-hour programme covering all the basic methodology areas which provides teachers and their prospective employers with evidence of ability to prepare and teach lessons based on their assigned coursebook as well as to be able to adapt and supplement it for the benefit of their learners where appropriate.

More and more teachers in Greece and other countries are becoming interested in teaching overseas. The Cambridge CELTA is often mentioned as a requirement,  the minimum requirement in fact, in order to get a teaching post in another country. A 120+-hour course, ideal for practising or prospective teachers who wish to learn the art of teaching adults and obtain an international accreditation.

ASEP Methodology & Education Studies in Preparation of the Examinations

A course preparing candidates for all parts of the examination; language, pedagogy and methodology topics are fully covered. Candidates may attend the full course or parts of interest to them.

TOP UP & REFRESH COURSES    20 TO 30 HOURS

These courses are aimed at teachers who have followed a basic methodology programme in the past, although even someone with no prior training will gain a lot from them. At least one or two courses are offered every term.

A 30-hour top-up course to help those who wish to prepare for this Cambridge award The course accepts teachers without prior training but is designed as a top up course for teachers who have attended methodology courses.

TEACHING ENGLISH TO YOUNG LEARNERS                                 03-05-06 to 24-05-06    

A 20-hour top-up course to help those who understand that teaching young learners is probably THE most difficult (AND rewarding) age group.

TEACHING ENGLISH GRAMMAR                                                  26-02-06 to 19-03-06

A  20-hour course which deals with the basic problems of teaching English Grammar to all levels.

ADVANCED STUDIES IN METHODOLOGY & TRANSLATION 

 CAMBRIDGE* DELTA DIPLOMA      25- 02-06 to 03-12-06  

A course organised over 10 intensive weekends!!!!!!!!!

For Experienced Teachers & School Owners who wish to develop their teaching, materials design and test design skills to a very high degree this is an international qualification, a bridging course to postgraduate degrees at M.A. level. ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN ELT                                                  25- 02-06 to 03-12-06     

For Experienced Teachers & School Owners who wish to develop their teaching, materials design and test design skills to a very high degree this is an alternative course at diploma level for those who do not have adult classes. Attendance is once per week and course participant who wish to do so may later transfer credits to a DELTA course

YOU CAN STILL JOIN THIS COURSE!

DIPLOMA IN TRANSLATION                                START ANY TIME 

This course aims to develop the skill of translating a wide range of text-types from English into Greek. It is intended for native speakers of Greek with a very high level of  English (Proficiency grade B and above) who wish to become professional translators. The course is run entirely by distance and candidates can start at any time of the year. Candidates register now may prepare for the examinations in January 2007 (1-year course) or in January 2008 (2-year course).
