Centre for English Language & Training - Where some of the finest language centres train their teachers

Marisa Constantinides is the Director of Studies of CELT Athens and is responsible for the design and implementation of all the programmes offered by CELT.

Marisa's main qualifications related to teaching are  the  RSA Diploma in TEFLA (DTEFLA), a precursor to the Cambridge DELTA Diploma, and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Reading in the UK.  Her  involvement in Teacher Development Programmes started at the Hellenic American Union where she ran workshops for  colleagues and State School Teachers, then  with Longman Publications running numerous training seminars for them all over Greece.

From 1982 to 1989, she trained teachers  for Mrs.Gina Pagoulatou-Vlachou's school. During that period she also collaborated with  the PALSO Federation, designing and running the first series of organised courses for language schools owners and their teachers in Greece.

From 1989-1993 she ran CELT with partners, training teachers and teaching adults on general and ESP courses,  and as of September 1993, Marisa has been running CELT Athens on her  own, mostly training teachers of English and supporting Diploma in Translation candidates.

Marisa Constantinides has written materials for children (Basic Grammar Workbooks 1, 2, & 3 published by English Schoolbook Publications), activity books for Cambridge Exams set texts, and numerous articles on Language, Foreign Language Teaching and Education.

Marisa Constantinides is Course Tutor on all Teacher Development courses offered at CELT Athens

George Vassilakis' first degree is in Philosophy but he very quickly changed his mind and dedicated himself to EFL. He  first came to CELT as a trainee and attended the RSA Cambridge DOTE in 1989 (also a predecessor to the DELTA) which he completed it with a Distinction in the Methodology. He has also completed an M.A. in TEFL.

George worked as a teacher for some years and, after completing his RSA studies, was employed at CELT where her started tutoring on all the courses and very soon on the RSA Diploma course itself. He left to write materials for Heinemann, now Macmillan ELT where he published Action English 1-3 and, later he worked as the Academic Director for the EUROGNOSI school franchise where he worked until 2008.

Nowadays, George's main job is with the City & Guilds Examinations  but he is still very keen on teacher development and works with CELT tutoring mainly on the DELTA course.

George is an approved CELTA and DELTA course tutor but contributes to other courses such as the Certificate in TEFL and the English for Teachers course.

Sunny A Angeles was born and raised in Australia, of a German father Japanese mother - with three languages at her fingertips, it was natural that she would develop an interest in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics!

Sunny A Angeles came to CELT to obtain her RSA DTEFLA Diploma in 1989 - she was one of our very first trainee teachers attending that course.

After completing her Diploma with Distinction in the Practical, she went on to further her studies by obtaining two more Masters qualifications. Meanwhile, she started working as a tutor for CELT, first on the Language Awareness for Teachers course, later on the Certificate in TEFL and, finally on the RSA DOTE/DTEFLA, and more recently, the Cambridge DELTA.

Sunny is an approved DELTA Course tutor but she also works as a tutor on the Open University as an Associate Lecturer on the MA in Applied Linguistics, and as a tutor on the IH Distance DELTA. Sunny examines for Cambridge regularly and is an IELTS assessor as well.

Today she trains teachers on the DELTA course at CELT as well as on the English for Teachers course.
