Main Areas Covered
The course covers both formal aspects of grammar and syntax, as well as appropriate use of language structures, functions and vocabulary. Language skills development focuses on specific professional needs of teachers, for example, reading professional books and journals, listening to lectures,  participating in seminars, correcting homework, writing model texts for learners, and improving oral skills needed for the classroom.  Below you can see some of the main course components:

Course Organisation
The course cycle comprises 90 hours of seminar  work, as well as an additional hours of self-access study. It is usually organised as a part-time course during the school year.  

Who can apply to attend
All applicants must have completed their secondary level education and hold a Recognised Certificate of Proficiency or the equivalent level of English. This is determined by an internally set examination and personal interview.

Candidates whose pre-course examination results indicate a level of English equivalent to or below Cambridge Proficiency grade C, are advised to attend this Language Awareness Course first, with a view to improving their level as required for obtaining an Advanced Certificate demonstrating a satisfactory level of performance for professional use in the classroom (grade B and above).

The course is also suitable for native speakers of English who wish to pursue a career as teacher of English but who have no formal education in English and would like to acquire a systematic and analytical knowledge of their own language.
